What are Android Pay and Samsung Pay?

Android Pay and Samsung Pay are secure, contactless payments feature integrated into your Android or Samsung device, that makes it easy to check out in apps and online. No need to enter your card details every time, just add your Chime Visa® debit card to make purchases at participating merchants.


How does my Chime card work with Android Pay and Samsung Pay?

When you add your Chime card to Android Pay or Samsung Pay, your actual card number is never shared. Instead, a virtual account number is used to protect your info, so your card details are always kept safe.

 

How do I pay using Android Pay and Samsung Pay?

How to Pay using Android Pay

Note: You’ll need to turn on NFC to pay with contactless terminals. Check to see if it’s turned on in your phone’s settings app.

Step 1: Unlock your phone.
You don’t need to open the Android Pay app to make a payment, but you do need to have your phone screen on and your phone unlocked.

Step 2: Hold the back of your phone close to the payment terminal for a few seconds.
If Android Pay sends the payment info, you’ll see a green checkmark.

If you don’t see one:

Make sure your NFC settings are turned on.
Try holding your phone a different way. Your NFC antenna could be near the top or bottom of your device.
Hold your phone closer to the terminal.
Hold your phone for a few extra seconds.
If you do see a check mark but the cashier says the payment didn’t work:

Double-check that the store accepts mobile payments.
Make sure your card information in Android Pay is up to date.

Step 3: Follow the on-screen instructions.
When the payment goes through, follow the same instructions you would if you slid your card.

Debit cards: Enter the PIN you set up with your bank. This is different from the PIN you use to unlock your device.


Credit cards: For larger transactions, sign the receipt or in the signature box on the terminal.

 

How to pay using Samsung Pay

You can open Samsung Pay from the Home screen, Apps menu, or Lock screen.

Step 1: To access your Favorite Cards, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Swipe to the desired card.

Step 3: To verify your identity, place your finger on the Home button. To use your Samsung Pay PIN, touch PIN. Then, enter your four-digit PIN.

Step 4: To make the payment, place the back of your device on the card or NFC reader on the payment terminal.

Step 5: If necessary, complete the transaction on the payment terminal. For example, if you are using a debit card, you are still required to enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Some merchants/terminals may prompt you to verify the total charges are correct, while others will require a signature.

With Android Pay, you can pay with your Android phone in stores where you see contactless terminals with either of these logos:

To find places near you that accept Android Pay, just open the app and touch.

Samsung pay works almost anywhere a customer can swipe or tap a card.
