Unfortunately, data breaches at large merchants have become all too commonplace. We are often notified by Visa when a merchant has been breached before it becomes public knowledge (a most recent example is Chipotle).
We take precautionary steps to protect Chime members and, in some cases, we proactively mail our members new Chime Visa Debit Cards. In addition to these safety measures, your Chime Spending Account is protected by the Visa Zero Liability guarantee. This guarantee offers the full protections for a deposit account as required by law and as outlined in our Deposit Account Agreement. This means that you won't be held responsible for any unauthorized charges made to your account or made using your account information.
You are protected if your Visa credit or debit card is lost, stolen, or fraudulently used online or offline (including as the result of a merchant breach).
