Unfortunately data breaches at large merchants have become all too commonplace. We are often notified by Visa when a merchant has been breached before it becomes public knowledge (e.g. Chipotle as a recent example).
In those cases we will take precautionary steps on our side to protect our members, and in some cases proactively mail out our members new Chime Visa Debit cards. Regardless of these actions, your Chime Spending Account is protected by the Visa Zero Liability guarantee and the full protections for a deposit account as required by law and as outlined in our Deposit Account Agreement that mean that you won't be held responsible for unauthorized charges made with your account or account information.
You're protected if your Visa credit or debit card is lost, stolen or fraudulently used, online or offline (including as the result of a merchant breach).
